Born Tampa, Florida, resident of St. Augustine, Florida. Admitted to the Florida Bar 1971, District of Columbia Bar 1976; U. S. District Court, Northern District of Florida 1972, U. S. District Court, Middle District of Florida and U. S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, 1974; U. S. Supreme Court 1974; U. S. District Court, Southern District of Florida, General and Trial Bar 1976; U. S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit 1981.

Education: University of South Florida (B.A. 1967); Florida State University (J.D. with honors 1970); Florida Legislative Intern, Ford Foundation Fellow 1968; Nottingham Law School Ltd., Nottingham Trent University (LL.M., in Advanced Litigation, July 1996).
