James Durstein joined Woolsey Morcom in 2024 after a decade spent on the “other side,” working at an insurance defense firm as a partner and trial attorney. He handled the defense of personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits, representing insurance companies, individuals, and corporations, and handling all aspects of litigation, including jury trials.
James has tried numerous cases to verdict as first chair. His win-loss record in jury trials over the past several years before joining Woolsey Morcom is believed to be unmatched among attorneys defending personal injury cases in northeast Florida.
Now, at Woolsey Morcom, James fights for individuals and families in their time of need after serious injury or death caused by the negligence of others. He brings his unique insight of how insurers defend and evaluate claims, along with his extensive litigation and trial experience. He believes in legal representation that is tailored to the specific experiences and circumstances of each client.
James graduated from the University of South Carolina before attending Florida Coastal School of Law, where he graduated in the top 1% of his class and was a board member of the law review. James lives in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife and kids. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, coaching his kids’ teams, playing golf, and traveling.
